Riverside Gun Club IDPA

DPA Handgunner I to be held on August 27, 2005

No gun? NO PROBLEM!!! Thanks to a generous donation from the GOAL Foundation, several 'loaner' guns are available. Other equipment may also be available on loan. Please call or e-mail to make arrangements for loaner equipment at least 1 week prior to the class.

Riverside Gun Club, Inc., in partnership with the GOAL Foundation will be conducting an introductory class to the Action Pistol Competition known as IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) on August 27, 2005.

IDPA competition involves the use of a defensive handgun to engage multiple targets in simulated defensive shooting scenarios.  Shooters efforts are timed and their accuracy is scored.  A combination of the two elements is used to determine match results.  Multiple firearm and shooter categories ensure that all shooters of all abilities can compete.  Game rules are designed to only allow practical off-the-shelf equipment so that anyone can participate competitively.  For more information on this organization, please visit their web site at www.IDPA.com

IDPA Handgunner I is a full day course designed to introduce the game of IDPA to those who have never participated in any type of pistol competition.  A morning of classroom instruction will be followed by an afternoon on the range conducting live-fire drills and simulated scenario Courses of Fire.

Students of this course are expected to understand basic firearm safety, and to be able to load, unload, and handle their firearm in a safe manner.  This course is NOT designed to teach basic marksmanship, but to expand basic skills as they apply to the game of IDPA.  Please contact the instructor below for more details.
