John Farnam, Defense Training International Details

This is a specialized defensive firearms course that will instill a level of defensive ability that will enable you to successfully handle nearly any personal protection situation. This is a fast-paced defensive shooting course. It is designed to prepare the responsible adult gun owner to survive a lethal encounter.

The course is scheduled for September 29 - October 1, 2006 at the Riverside Gun Club in Hudson, MA. It includes a Friday night lecture and 2 full days (Saturday and Sunday) on the range.

Tuition: $495.00

A 50% deposit is required when you make your reservation. Members of the Riverside Gun Club and Law Enforcement personnel receive a 10% discount on tuition.

This course will be for those with some experience in the gun-fighting arts. Our goal is to have you complete the course assured in your ability to handle a firearm safely, responsibly and proficiently. The course curriculum includes: safe gun handling and preventable firearms accidents, threat evaluation, risk identification and reduction, precision shooting, discretionary shooting, performing under stress, weapon control, target scanning and quick identification.

Classroom subjects will include the latest information on the various aspects of encounters requiring self-defense tactic, courtroom savvy, ammunition performance, and weapon selection criterion.

Safety and correct gun handling will be stressed and expected of all students throughout the course.

What You Will Need:

  1. A serviceable defensive handgun,
  2. 380 auto or larger
  3. At least two magazines or speed loaders
  4. A concealment holster appropriate for the handgun
  5. 600 rounds of fully jacketed ammunition (not home reloaded)
  6. A defensive shotgun either in 12 or 20 gauge, pump or autoloader.
  7. Your shotgun must have a full stock, fixed or folding, and a sling
  8. 70 rounds of 00 buckshot in standard 9 pellet load, and 10 slugs
  9. A baseball cap
  10. Eye protection Hearing protection
  11. A jacket or vest suitable for concealment.
Note: Because of the location of the range, we urge you to bring clothing that would keep you warm should the weather change. As we shoot rain or shine, if the weather looks threatening, bring the appropriate rain gear. Please bring food for lunch. Also, bring sufficient liquids (non-alcoholic) to last the day.
